In light of what has happened some are angry, some are joyful, some are despaired, others have hope. It is very easy to let something like this divide our nation, because some of us have very strong political views. If you’re a Christian keep in mind that any house divided against itself will fall. Take care not to let any kind of worldly view divide us from our brother and sister in Christ, we need each other! Especially when it comes to advancing the cause of Christ, who is the center of our existence! As for being an American, my aim is to do whatever I can as a citizen to make this country a better place. I’m not depending upon someone else to make this country great by them alone. America is made of many people and many of us have an opportunity to make things better where we are. Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country. Sound familiar? WE Christians, WE Americans can be the change we want to see. America is great when we work together, not when we are divided. Christianity thrives when we are in one accord, not when there is discord amongst us.

Woodlands

This is a poem I wrote that got published by Anthology of Poetry by Young Americans when I was 12. So long ago!

WOODLANDS

Woods can be such an exciting place to live

There are so many things it will give

You can climb trees that are high

The trees are so high they can touch the sky

There is soft grass for you to walk barefeet

Or you can go fishing, it is really neat

There are bugs that walk on the ground

Ants will be building a huge mound

There are pretty rays of sunlight

The light makes the woods so pretty and bright

The breeze even sways the beautiful trees

There are birds that soar through the air

Their baby birds need lots of care

There’s not a day that its beauty does not cease

And each passing day will bring great peace

Where the Definition of Beauty Lies

I wrote this post on Facebook back in 2013. Many women still need to hear this and embrace the way God has made them. God has made each of us unique and we should not be ashamed about being unique!
Be blessed 🙂

My Post from 2013:
I recently had encouragement from a brother and sister in Christ who identified my faith and wisdom. I had patients that I know and love tell me that they admire me and appreciate what I’ve done for them. Yet, I didn’t feel worthy of these compliments and I wondered why. My black sisters will understand when I say my thinking has been influenced by how the media portrays us. On top of that some of the men in the culture give us a bad wrap. So, if I’m a child of God, why am I listening to what the media says or the negativity of others? Why am I choosing to be defined this way? I’m defined by my Lord and Savior who created me as I am in the first place. If you my sisters realize this, there is no room for jealousy of others or self loathing. I know it’s hard to escape what is being said about you and it can cut to the heart and make you cry, but I for one chose to be defined by God and not the media or society. I choose to embrace the advice and encouragement of those in Christ who know me and love me.
